Frequently asked questions

The short answers to what owners ask most. Can’t see yours? Head to Support.

The basics

What is IMMOSTOP?

IMMOSTOP is a vehicle immobiliser controlled from your phone. It arms itself when you walk away and disarms as you come back, so your car won’t start for anyone who doesn’t have a paired phone or fob. It’s professionally fitted by Autosecureshop.

Which immobilisers does the app work with?

Both:

  • Our own IMMOSTOP immobilisers — the dual-point system Autosecureshop fit new. The app is set up when it’s installed and controls everything from your phone.
  • Older blue Bluetooth proximity immobilisers — the ones fitted a few years ago that were left without a working app. The IMMOSTOP V1 unlock brings these back to life (see below).

One app looks after whichever you have.

Is there a subscription?

No. The app is a one-off payment per vehicle through Google Play — no monthly fees, no renewals. It then works on every phone in your household.

My old immobiliser app stopped working and the company has gone. Can I still use my car security?

Yes — that’s exactly what IMMOSTOP V1 is for. If you have one of the older blue Bluetooth proximity immobilisers that was fitted a few years ago and left without a working app, IMMOSTOP brings it back to life. A one-off unlock turns control of it back on, on every phone in your household. Your immobiliser still works; it just needed an app that could talk to it.

Not sure if yours is compatible? It’s the small blue unit that armed and disarmed your car from a phone, and came with a blue PUK/registration card with a QR code. If that sounds like yours, get in touch and we’ll confirm it in a minute.

Everyday use

How do I disarm my car?

Usually you don’t have to do anything. With proximity unlock on, the car disarms as you approach with your phone, even with the app closed. You can also open the app and press Disarm yourself.

Does it work when I have no phone signal?

Yes. Your car will always start. The app keeps a secure copy of what it needs on your phone, so an underground car park or a dead spot never stops you driving. When you’re back online it checks in as normal.

Will it drain my battery?

Proximity unlock uses a little more battery because it quietly watches for you to approach, and it shows a small notification while it’s doing so. If you’d rather, you can turn proximity off and simply open the app to disarm.

Access & recovery

I’ve got a new phone / reinstalled the app. How do I get back in?

Your vehicle is backed up to your account, so it only takes a minute:

  1. Open the app next to your car.
  2. Go to Settings → Restore.
  3. Tap Email me a restore code and enter the code we send to your email.

Your access comes back to the new phone. The code only works once and expires after 30 minutes.

I’ve forgotten my PIN, or the car says the PIN is wrong.

Don’t keep trying — an older immobiliser locks itself after a few wrong PINs. Your installer can reset it using your PUK card. Once that’s been done, the app can put things right automatically if it ever happens again.

Is my PIN safe?

Yes. On your phone it’s held in the phone’s secure hardware, which can’t be read out. The backup on our server is encrypted and is never emailed or shown to anyone — not even to us. It’s only ever used to talk to your own immobiliser.

Family, fobs & extras

Can my partner or family drive the car too?

Yes. Share a pairing code from your phone and their phone can disarm the car. If they want the full app on their phone — logbook, settings, tags and the rest — they can unlock it with a small one-off payment, just for your vehicle.

What are the keyring fobs?

A small fob that disarms your car hands-free by proximity, the same job your phone does — handy if you don’t want to rely on a phone. If one is lost, your installer revokes it and it stops working for good; nothing else needs changing.

Does IMMOSTOP track where I am?

No. The only location feature is “Remember where I parked,” and it’s off unless you switch it on. When on, the spot is saved on your phone only — it is not uploaded to us. There’s no journey tracking.

What about warranty and my installation certificate?

Your certificate and warranty begin when your vehicle is registered in the app. Keep your registration details (plate, make, model) up to date — insurers sometimes ask for the certificate, and it’s available in the app.

Buying & trade

How do I activate the unlock for my immobiliser?

Install IMMOSTOP from Google Play, open it next to your car, and it reads your immobiliser. Then tap Unlock — it’s a one-off payment through Google Play for that vehicle, with no subscription. If the car has locked you out on the PIN, we’ll reset it with your PUK first.

Can I buy spare keyring fobs?

Yes. Spare fobs are available to buy, and your installer pairs them to your car in seconds. A fob disarms hands-free like your phone does, so it’s handy as a backup or for another driver. Lost one? It’s revoked and stops working for good. Ask us about fobs.

I’m in the trade — can I resell IMMOSTOP, or revive old immobiliser stock?

Yes. If you fit vehicle security, or you’re holding blue immobiliser stock you couldn’t sell once the original app stopped working, you can become an IMMOSTOP reseller and activate boards for your customers — turning dead stock into working, fitted security. We approve you by email, then you claim your own installer code to set customers up. Request a reseller account.
